Fairy Lore: Buy Fairy Costumes

Fairy Lore:  Buy Fairy Costumes

Fairies are often depicted as human like with mystical magical powers. Folklore of various times and places describe them as often being dead, or some form of demon, or perhaps a species that is neither human nor angels.

The most popular and accepted description of fairies is that they are a conquered race living in hiding. Should you attach a religious undertone to the folklore they can be described as having lost currency with the introduction of Christianity. These explanations are not completely incompatible, and can be traced to numerous and varied sources.

Fairies are often described as a hostile race of beings and much of folklore centers around protection from their wicked ways, by multiple means such as iron, which fairies are afraid of and would never go near. Other ways to ward off fairies is the use of charms made from various and potent herbs.

It is advisable and recommended to steer clear of locations known to be inhabited by fairies. Down through the ages, folklore has not been all that kind to fairies, often detailing how to prevent the fairies from stealing babies and substituting changelings… they like to steal old folks as well!

Although today fairies are often depicted as young, winged, human looking beings of small stature, they were originally described much differently: tall, radiant, angelic beings or perhaps short, wizened trolls and a couple of descriptions somewhere in-between. So, if you are tall, sexy and elegant you can be a fairy or if you are short and stumpy you can be a fairy as well!
